Cant change my mail profile pic cropping

itll let me change my pic, then when i more the cropping around it does nothing, still only posting my pic with the entire pic just squiching it! Ive tried many a day too, this is not just a today problem :(

UPDATE: Things going on

I thought I'd post an update on things going on over here, sorry I haven't been responding to the messages here but I am reading this tribe regularly. There have been some problems that have cropped up over the past few days that I am fixing today.

The big news is that we're rewriting the underlying application for tribe.net. It'll look the same, there will be some minor improvements in the UI to make it a little easier to use, and all our data will be preserved. The beta test site should go live sometime in June. Currently only people with the Gold Star subscriptions will be able to beta test. We hope to have the actual code moved over and running tribe sometime during July.

We're watching this tribe and seeing where we need to make improvements in the system -- I am pretty satisfied that the things we are doing will make place a really great place to connect.

'Edit' part of profile not clickable

no asterisks for new comments

today, i have seen that when i am on my home page, and where all the 'new comments' come up to the top of your tribe list, i click on it, get to the tribe, but there are no asterisks to indicate which thread had the new comments. Its a given that its on, or towards the top, but if a large tribe is in a talkative mood, it can take forever to go thru them all, to find the comment. And then, when i do find the comment, there is not the orange 'new comment' header that is for identifying them as new.

I posted and event and wanted to check my RSVP's but can't find it. In the FAQ's it says to go to the events title at the top of any page and click on "Events I Posted" but I see nothing that says that. What do I do now?

Logging in?

I'm having a really interesting time on tribe today. Every time I log in (daily)I click the 'remember me' button, yet EVERY tim I open a tribe to read oa post or open up a friend's profile to view a photo - I get logged out. Then, as I go to sign in again, my passowrd automatically comes up before I even type it. This is really annoying and rather alarming. BTW it took 7, yes, 7 attempts to log onto this tribe and post this message.

I love Tribe, it's a huge part of my life and I am really hoping someone out there reads this and can offer some suggestions

Events not correctly feeding into 'events module'

Aloha,
I've tried everything I can think of to remove an ancient event from my events module, and it will not go away. I even removed the module and re-added it, which didn't work.

Also, the module is supposed to automatically add events as I post them, which it does not do. Does anybody know how to get this to work correctly?

Dear Tribe.

I am a strong believer in Tribe.
I have supported and promoted you for many years.
But you are fucking up.
Too much down time.
People are migrating away.
The other sites suck, but at least they are up.
If you do not fix this soon, Tribe will die.
Is that clear?

I love Tribe and what it has done for me,
but if too many people leave, it will fold.

How simple can I state this?

FIX IT ... OR GET NEW JOBS.

Inability to change subscribed email address

Apparently the help desk no longer exists (I've emailed them.)

But, the bug is that there doesn't seem to be a way to change the address for which this account is subscribed. (The domain for the old address is no longer valid.) Any way to fix this?

I've organized a new tribe called Rainbow~World Travel~Tribe. People trying to join have told me that the address I've given out to join the tribe does not work. :

Same problem never fixed: Not updating my feeds from blogspot

This has been a problem for over a year... i post and post here requesting that it be fixed..
Nothing.
No replies.
No help.

Tribe has some great interface features that make it unique and easy to access/cruise, but the lack of feeling like there is going to be any FIXING done makes me irritated.

Over a year ago i had some lovely interfaces with the folks who took over after Tribe got sold... and we got some issues fixed-- but this one has never been resolved.
i have posted about it a LOT.
So now, i am posting again.
MY blogspot.com rss feeds do not update on my profile. i have to go into my profile and go to those feeds and change something about them (show latest 5 becomes show latest 6, etc.) to have them update to what is there right now... and then they stay that way until the next time i go in and update the info.
That is NOT what should happen.

i don't know how to be any more patient-- i think after a year, i have every right to post some pretty nasty feelings about the way tribe bugs get fixed (both tribe-across the board wise and individual tribe member issues wise), but i haven't.
i just want to get this fixed. i will be happy to TALK to anyone that wants to call me Sunday or Monday about how to step by step fix it.
If anyone ever reads this and writes me directly i will send them that phone number so we can be on phone and fix it.

i really really want it fixed.
If i have to come back here and start another thread... i might start 40.
Just to get a high enough profile to get my little itty bitty problem solved.

my little light don't shine

hi there..i joined tribe in march, and love it! i've been feeling my way around, making some friends, but the little light under my picture never lights up when i am on-line [i am signed in, so its not that]. true, i try to live a life of walking my path lightly, but heck, i'd sure like to know my little light is shining out there! is there something i'm not doing right? does my bulb need replacing? or do i only think i'm here??? ummm

i know there are threads on here already about this...

and i know i'm not the only one frutrated about this.

will the "listings i've posted" bug ever be fixed? it's been going on for months now, seems like. i have several listings i'd like to take down, as they fulfilled their purpose, but i can't. it just seems like a waste of server space of whatever (don't blast me, i have no understanding of the tech side of things, i know it's got to be a doozy or it'd be fixed by now).

it just seems to me that this is a neverending problem.

Photos Not Adding

The Terms of Use still contain the 208 Utah mailing address. Since this is a page with some legal ramifications, that should probably be up to date.

The privacy policy still has a Trust-e logo, though the click through says "not verified".

(email)

Email still contains Habeas headers, even though I believe Tribe is no longer certified by Habeas. That's a good way to get sued for copyright infringement.

cannot sign in to my profile

everything worked until the long 'donut panic' two weeks ago.

now when i try to log in to my "spark*l" account http://people.tribe.net/5234f615-1e3a-4d2e-98a3-0c40ef86c086 , i am told that my email/password is invalid. when i attempted to change my password (forgot your password? feature), it informs me that my email does not belong to a registered user. funny, but my profile is still there, and it still looks like me, and i never changed my email address.

sometimes, when i try to view my original profile, it is full of weird code, rather than my personal info. when i refresh the screen, *some* of the personal data returns... sometimes. other times it is ineffective.

in order to read my tribes and to post my dilemma here, i've set up a secondary hotmail account and this "spark*l clone" tribe account. i've already sent three emails to help@tribe.net begging for help, with no response. i have also posted to the Tribe.net FAQ, http://faq.tribe.net/thread/70fbf59c-27bd-4135-bbad-39ae764ebdba with no resolution. i even resorted to emailing Jenni, after discovering her profile through a thread on this tribe. i searched 'email' and 'registered' throughout this tribe, without finding any similar issues.

does anyone have any suggestions what else i might do??? this is so very frustrating!

I've posted a couple of topics regarding our registered BM theme camp.

Now, evey time I go to post a new topic, Tribe keeps asking me to sign in.....every time! Then I sign in again......go through the process again and come up with having to sign in again.

Tribe invitation will not go away

Hi,

I have had a tribe invitation on my homepage for months that won't leave.

The person who created the tribe and invited me unsubscribed and the tribe was deleted before I got to process the invite..

Its not stopping me doing anything but I wondered if there was a way to get rid of it...

Any ideas?

cant adjust size of photo

Gateway Timeout

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea why whenever I try to access tribe.net from home, I always...and I mean always....get a 'Gateway Timeout' message? I have a broadband connection with an ISP. I don't think it is an ISP problem as I have friends who subscribe to the same service and can use tribe without any problems.

Help sorely needed and greatly appreciated.

thread deletion

A thread was deleted in a tribe I moderate with no action taken. This was a thread that I started, so there is no one else that could have deleted it. Was on the tribe, saw the thread, moved to something else, came back, and it was gone!!!

Change of email

I have changed my email from Yahoo. I was hacked. I cannot retrieve my information nor can Yahoo, as I have called AND written to them several times. Because I put in a fake birthdate and zip code, for protection, (go figure) they cannot help me. Caleena_janay@yahoo.com is now completely demolished. I have created a new account with gmail. How do I change my email here on Tribe without a confirmation code sent to the email that I cannot even access? If you respond to me by message, I can give my new email address to you.

tribes won't sort

When I go to a listing of all my tribes and try to sort them by latest post or last visit etc it does not work :( For tribes and email both really need to get sorting features working, multiple deleting option too and a delete all for email, it takes too long to go through the sent emails and delete right now

changing e mail

I have tried to change my email account a few times, but to no avail. I am currently using my old one that I have cancelled. I try to log in with my new e mail address, but it tells me it's wrong. I then log in with my old one and............ well. I'm in.

Tribe Chat--can't see my contacts

friends in and out of tribe are doing a tribe search for me and not getting my profile in the results. i wish my profile would come up first in a tribe search for me. right? also, when one types in my address, people.tribe.net/dianepatterson, they may or may not be able to get to my profile. any solutions, my dears?

Tribe Seems to Be Frozen in Time Again

I look at tribes that show I have messages, and when I return to the main page and refresh, it still shows that I have the same messages.

I post photos that don't appear.

As I recall, this happened not too long ago, and people were advised to delete cookies or temp files or something like that. I deleted everything I could think of. I signed off tribe and signed back in. I rebooted my computer.

Everything's still frozen in time.

Style sheet issues for Firefox 2.0.0.13 and Windows XP

My personal Tribe page (not my profile page) is the biggest issue. The Welcome box with the profile views is way oversized. My friends box has no black frame around the profile icons and there is no online marker dot. The online profile name is in blue, which is unusual. Every so often it goes completely wonky and it becomes covered in gibberish.

When I look at my tribe pages, the listing for topics, photos, reviews, etc. are listed vertically without tabs. I have also notice when I view some photos, a portion of the photo will be partially covered with mono colored square.

Friend invite goofy

I sent an invite to someone and it came back "declined".
First, I thought we would not get anything back if it was declined.
Secondly, she has a nice note with it. Sio I re-asked her (via hitting reply) if she had wanted to join.
She thought she did join! Then she sent me an invite and we got connected that way.

I posted two listings entitled "Travel partner(s) wanted July/August Colorado" to several tribes, for example:

santafe.tribe.net

1. Email alerts were sent out with dead links.
2. The links on the tribe listings are dead.
3. When I go to "my listings I've posted" they are not there so I cannot even delete them.

I am stuck with multiple corrupted listings in multiple tribes!

This listing is important to me, as is my reputation.

I'm afraid that interested parties will think I abandoned the listing, an/or be annoyed by the emails and dead links.

I see that this has been an ongoing bug with Tribe.

I need some help here!

missing listing

I just posted a listing entitled "Travel partner(s) wanted July/August Colorado" to several tribes, for example:

santafe.tribe.net

But when I click on the listing I get a screen saying "Unable to find the specified listing."

I see that this is a known bug. What should I do? Post a duplicate listing?

"My events" disappear before event

I had like 7 upcoming events in "my events"
for things coming up through june

then yesterday it was down to 1
and today down to none.

Do these expire? Wouldn't they stay in my events until the day
they are listed? Just wondering? Any way to find them again
or mark them so I can keep checking them until the event.

Missing Listing

I have a question and don't know who to ask or contact about it.

I am having a problem with another Triber harrassing me. I had accepted her friend request a few months back but I removed her today, and she sent me another friend request again today.

I have already warned her that if she ever contacts me again I will contact tribe personel about it.

So, my question is, who can I contact on tribe.net an inform them of this situation?

I have her messages saved in case they need to forwarded to someone.

A module was lost during Tribe downtime

I was adding to my "1979--2007 Concerts (a work in progress)", module; I hit "save" and it was close to when Tribe went down temporarily @ approximately 9:00PM tonight. The info in the module is now missing, about 1500 lines. Can you please recover it for me? It took many-many hours to create this .

unable to accept friends

20-100 copies sent of every invite acceptance

anytime I accept a friend invite or tribe invite a copy of that message is sent to the recipient multiple times. not 2 or 3, but 20-100 times. I reviewed my sent box and saw this has been happening for almost 2 months. any word on why this is happening and when it will change? There was no mention of this problem in the recent Tribe blog update.

Navigation black hole

Went looking for a tribe so I did a keyword search from Tribe's version of Google (I guess that's what it is...). So I found the tribe, navigated upstream, expecting to find a link back to my own list of tribes I subscribe to, but from the search page there are NO links to *anything* on Tribe. I got 'home' again hitting the back button but this seems like a kludge.

Problems adding photos to my album, etc.

Tried (successfully at first) to add two photos today, then went back to my homepage later, where the two additions were still listed, but not in the album anymore. Now, there's this message for those two on the home page, and the latest one I tried to post to replace them:

additional bug

in addition to not having the moderator worked out, i have started another sister tribe to the first that is non funtional, seeings how the admin. here does not see fit to either work on the problem or respond to me in any way, and now what i am finding, is that there are no new posts showing, so people do not know if anything new has been discussed that day. (i mean the little orange asterisk next to a post, to indicate a new comment).

half the time, when i go to post a comment, i am logged out when i post the reply, and of course, the reply does not post. If anyone outside of tribe staff has any suggestions, please tell me, i am assuming i will have to figure this out myself as well. any input???

OK, I was on just before the outage today and I got some header on my home page here about confirming my account. It also mentioned an email about this which I never received.

This sounds enough like a phishing scheme I thought I would ask about it. Legit or not? Should we be expecting an email from Tribe about this?

Tribe bugs again...

So I logged into this afternoon okay using firefox. Still having issues, but at least i was able to log in.

Read a new message sent to my inbox, approved membership requests for a tribe. Good.
I go to homepage again, hey! New message.
Go the inbox again and yep, theres a red star by ..... wait, that is the same message I just read. Hmmmn.

So I open it again to make sure tribe clears it, then click on another tribe link, then click to come back to my homepage and theres another red new message notification. Same message Ive already read twice now.

I am smart, I know how to tackle this bugger!

DELETE! Message is deleted. Hah!

So I click home icon to go back to homepage. Hey, a new message!.......................
Suprise - its the day of the living dead message that just won't DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And on another note, also am noticing that suddenly at the left side of my homepage where friends blogs & posts appear they are all doing that strange &kekk%% thing again, and the icon for who posted the blogs is whited out.

So I went to check again since above line, and the left side is now showing real, visible posting & blog contributions. ??

Page STYLES do not load correctly

Blog feed not updating

I have a blog on another site that I post on my Tribe profile (I assume this is an RSS feed, it's been a while). Recently, it hasnt' been updating as I post new posts on the off-Tribe blog. The only thing that makes it update is if I go to my Tribe profile, click on 'configure this module', which then makes the missing entry appear.

Problem with friend modules

There's a bug that the system has always had, whereby if I go to the 'edit' link for that module, I still can't get the 'people I know' module to move to top like is supposed to be possible.

Tribe sure is running screwy lately...
are ya fixin' stuff and just not done yet or what?
It takes me several tries to get in... then when I try to post it kicks me out...
I'm timed out the minute I'm in and have to log back in...
then it takes forever to get in again... this has been going on for a few days now and seems to be getting worse instead of better... (??)
what's up?
This reminds me of the old days when I ran a little 286 on dialup connection with a dos os...
and I've got highspeed cable connection and a fast pc..

is it going to be better anytime soon?

Style Sheet blow-out?

My "home Page" is all blown-out I am guessing there is a style sheet screw-up. Columns and links are getting bumped. Possibly something in a style that forces a line break. There are several CSS and javascript statements that will do this... good luck finding it.

Tribe frequently not loading, tribes & profiles not loading. Tribe just not working reliably, reliably.

Tribe really seems to be suffering from very long-standing, significant problems with stability and performance.

When trying to access my homepage again this was a challenge as it often times out. Though it did load this time, when trying to view a profile of someone requesting membership to a moderated tribe their profile would not load. I even tried viewing other members profiles to see if it was just some issue with that one members profile, but other profiles are not loading or viewable either now.
Even tribes are not loading, as has often been the case with my main Tribe homepage.

This has been such a consistant, enduring & significant bug with Tribe that Im wondering if or how it has been directly repaired or fixed by tribe techies?
Why is it seemingly so difficult to get to work relatively stable?
Its making moderating tribes, viewing & replying to membership requests & messages and other navigation issues impossibel sometimes, to very slow.

Tribe homepage still displays "cannot find server" more often than not. Fix in works?

Still happening that when I try logging in, and even after being logged in when trying to view
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/home the page instead displays the "page cannot be displayed" white page. Most other tribe pages seem to be much more easily viewed, but still after many, many months the homepage usually times out or for some reason does not display.

Given there is alot of useful information, links, functions, etc on our tribe homepage its is pretty valuable to be able to have tribe fix whatever bugs or design flaws are frequently causing that page to not display. As I moderate two tribe as well, I need to access my tribe homepage to be able to complete some tribe moderator functions like accepting or modifying tribe memerships.

Anything in the works for this?
