This is ridiculous

Tribe,
Well, for two days now I have tried to log into Tribe. I am able to simply log in, except when it states "over capacity". After I log in, I cannot perform any other function WITHOUT being booted out. Nada, nothing. When I try to log back in tonight, it still states "over capacity", and it takes four times to simply log back in.
Please, please, if you have a service and network, simply get it up and running, and KEEP it up and running. It's a complete waste of time to have to LOG back in every time you move from one function to another, then get stuck four times in a row with this "over capacity" stuff. Please get the service fixed. Thanks.....

It really is ridiculous. If the site wants to maintain membership, let alone increase membership, this problem MUST be resolved ASAP.

Right now it is seriously hampering auditions for my critter production of Hamlet, too.

As I've mentioned before, this is not just due to hardware problems, but human errors of carelessness. Tribe.net managers owe us explanations about why this is happening, and not their usual dodges, and eliminate the personell that can't conceive of a checklist to make sure everything is working. I'm almost wishing for a company to buy out tribe, replace it with modern hardware and fire all current staff. That's the way it would be done in a professional business world. I know that I would not hire any tech that listed tribe on their resumes because of these problems. Really. I'm sorry because I don't mean offense, but people need to do their jobs right and these problems wouldn't continue to plague.

who are the staff and how many are there?

what are their duties and how long have they been working here?

i ask because you seem to make a lot of uninformed assumptions
about how Tribe is run. (in more than just this instance)

it kind of helps (especially when you get all especially grumpy about it)
to appear that you at least have a bit of knowledge about that which
        you are complaining.

I am having the same problems as you and others it seems, being logged out everytime I click on a function, the over capacity popup, etc. It was a job to stay logged on long enough to post this reply lol. Hopefully things will be fully functional again soon, for this site and the many, many others that seem to be having similar issues.

      Thank you for this.
Yes - many other sites are having trouble, not just tribe!

I don't look to other tribes to solve tribe's problems. I want my tribe, the tribe I am paying for, to work.

you were silly to pay for the service, being intelligent, well read, and articulate. the paid memberships, which have decline to 50 or less percent, over a period of a season or year should be a good tip off. Lots of old timers here, not new to the season, used to pay for services in support of a more functional platform. It still has the same, or similar issues. The support did not fix the problems. For whatever reason, there having been hundreds of threads discussing just thing specific issue.

Would you all just leave already? All I ever seem to read is bitching. Go to Facebook, go to MySpace, go Twitter, who cares, just GO. If you cannot be patient with the service (and really, it is totally understandable) stop bitching and do something about it. Pony up some cash for a better long term fix, that you may have to wait for, or leave. There are problems, many of them, I agree. But there is also sunshine and wind and rain and a wondrous world away from the computer. Or go turn on the TV and zone out while being programmed, whatever. Just stop whining. The same people who talk about how advanced they are with all of their voodootaichiyogatranscendentalmeditationtherapy are also here acting like the little spoiled american children bitches they are. Get over yourselves and let go. sheesh.

      i did pay
for the first year subscriptions were offered.

i haven't renewed for obvious reasons.

as far as patience goes, anyone still posting here who
joined before 2007 has already proven themselves there.

one would have to be loyal to some degree to do so.

was my OP particularly rude or demanding
considering the sad state tribe has been in for the past 2 years?
      - it's not as if this just started happening

am i only allowed to speak (in your estimation) when it's been going
on for 5 years rather than 2?

is it really asking too much to want some regular communication
      from Tribe admin?

and as far as people leaving, well, that is exactly what they are doing.
telling more of us (somewhat pathetic) hangers -on to what's left
of this once glorious site, seems a bit over kill and unnecessary.

if things continue as they are, i'm sure some, most, or all of us will..

referring to the thread i started

it's difficult to remember which i'm in when i keep
        getting the capacity pages.

Actually, Wildapache, you and the thread starter, alwaysready, were not particularly rude and your complaints are not only fine but even desired. You have a problem, you describe the problem, and ask for a little help. And as wonder warrior said, complaints are what help to create change. So perhaps complain, is not the right word to describe what I have an issue with. What bothers me is whining. And rudeness is not exactly pleasant either. Sorry Flint, if your panties got in a bunch, but your response was really over the top. I guess that's fine for you. You can vent on people here on the internet because in real life, if you talked like that to strangers, you would run the risk of getting bitch-slapped into next week. Probably not by me, I'd just turn away as I will after this, but you never know what someone is apt to do who you don't know. All I ask is that people perhaps take a little time to consider whether or not what they are writing is really worth the time to write it. We all know there are problems. I have experienced the over capacity one myself and really hate it. It is worth reporting. But to berate the people who are running Tribe, who stepped up with their time and money to save something they thought worth saving, is really too much. What have you done recently, Flint, to help out Tribe? They have posted many places what they are trying to do and their timeframe. Do you need them to update you every 5 minutes? I'd love a weekly update myself, but that would be sufficient. But insulting them has got to be de-moralizing for folks who are trying to make it work. I mean cripe, stick around, but try to be positive. The negativity gets a little hard to take sometimes. I pay for the service because I want to support it's eventual success. And as for stalking you Flint, just because you happen to be on Tribes that I belong to and read, is hardly criteria for stalking. Enough said. Let the shit flinging continue.

            bugs.tribe.net/thread/ce6...968cbd1ab02
Carolyn already spoke to the issues in this tribe regarding their timeline to fix this site and to release a new code which will ensure the future of Tribe.
<<There is indeed a plan. Our contractual date is to have the site running on a new platform by May 2010, and currently we're on track to have a beta ready by December.

Unfortunately, unexpected failures and issues such as this week's "can't stay logged in without checking Remember Me" mean time spent on fixing that rather than on the new platform, but overall things are mostly to plan>>

The prior administrator of this site announced timelines that were never met. The people who now run this website are picking up those pieces, working their asses off trying to keep this site online and doing all they can to have a new code released for this very website so many of you prefer to complain about. They are not obligated to share with any of us their own personal and private information beyond that. What's important is the end game. The release of a new code. From the movie Field of Dreams "Build it and they will come".

Tribe is well aware how frustrating it is when members can't log onto the site. It's un fortunate they have to continue adding resources to this current platform which is taking away from the time they need to spend on all of the new and wonderful things, Have faith in the bigger picture or not. In the end I believe it will be a great thing for this website. This is not an overnight project for them and I know they are doing all they can to live up to their contractual agreement,

whatever my grumbles, i went and revived my facebook account tonite, and it was so damned two dimensional and boring, i deactivated that damn thing in disgust. It may be a place to keep in touch in form of letters, but there is no intresting tribes, and good or focused forums. No real ability to really express yourself. So tribes functions suck right now, but even on pause, its more intresting than face *yawn* book.

I agree, tribe is way more interesting than facebook (aside from finding people who don't mind posting their real names to questionable viewers), not even taking into account what the ACLU has been warning people about it lately.
Myspace works for some things but the discussions tend to be a lot weaker and they have even more bugs than tribe does, in my experience.

Is the problem with the server cache clock at least mentioned somewhere on the main page? When a site has a major problem like this, it really helps morale if the membership (and potential membership) can see that the administrators know what's broken and are working on fixing it...a long with a listed down time so that one has a chance to not be caught off guard/make other plans, etc...

I've been trying to get (and STAY)
logged into tribe for a week and a half now...

I'm really glad (and quite shocked, actually)
that it seems to be fixed now...

I must admit, this is the closest I've come to
    leaving; but I'm back
I tried to remember there are caring
people working on the problem as bruce mentioned.
I doubgt I'm going to be able to deal with the several
thousand new messages, however... guess i'll
just have to let those topics go....

Several thousand new messages? Huh, and people say tribe is dead....

The unexpected outage this evening gave me a quick chance to restore a different back up configuration on the load balancer and things do seem to be running better now.

As for the date this particular issue started, we began receiving complaints about it on 15 Sept, so it's been just under a week. If you run into this or any problem again, please be sure to let us know!

funny, I use to feel proud that I was a "hanger" Not letting go of my beloved site... refusing to be a facebooker. Now I feel pathetic. *sulks* I know your working hard tribe, but I can't help but agree with the naysayers on this one.... it's not only old.. it's wrinkled, shriveld and dried up.

Give us anything... some type of hope. Let me crop a picture or something!! LOL

Don't hang your head in shame, SN.
Just go to happy hour after work :o)

I know this site will continue to have problems until they are able to role out the next release. Not much else is going to cure the woes of this site. All they can do is try to adjust what fails here each time. That should all go away once the new version comes to be.
I keep my fingers and toes crossed for that.

OKAY so who else is joining us for happy hour?

That would be SOO nice, to be able to rearrange photos...to group them somehow, create ''albums" like they do on other sites.

I have FB and MS accounts and almost NEVER use them, just go to check when I get a message that I got a message and post a few pics. The whole album thing is one plus to them, but pretty much the only plus (other then tracking people down-not always a good thing). There are no truly interesting discussions, and all the "take the ____ quiz" on MS and the apps on FB drive me NUTS! "What 80s movie are you?" "So-and-so sent you a hug/vampire bite/shout/what have you." Yeesh, gimme a break. How overly cutesy can you get (and I love puppies and kitties), I mean really?

FB & MS just don't got what Tribe got, intelligent (usually) discussions about specific topics, smart people who aren't just out for the trendy-webpage-of-the-week. Even with all it's annoying little issues, Tribe is still the best. Heck, annoying issues are par for the course with the internet (and life in general) in my opinion.

not everyone would do it, but i reccomend that tribe try to add a check box next to each picture in our albums, then, i could get rid of whole pages of no longer relevant pictures. But if removing them, one at a time, with the slowness of tribe, insures no one will ever bother to delete something. So much space used up with images stored for people that are not even here.
