I have been invited to join a tribe. I was sent the link and when I click on the link I get the following:
++++++++++++++
The Requested Action Cannot Be PerformedYou have attempted to do something that is not permitted according to this tribe's security configuration.
This may be due to the fact that you are not a member of the tribe, or you have tried to modify a posting in the tribe that is not modifiable. You may only modify postings that you originally wrote, and that have not been replied to. Please return to the Tribe Card and check your membership status.
+++++++++++++
Is the issue with tribe or with the sender. Others that were sent the same invite to join have not had a problem getting in. HELP!!!!!

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Fri, October 16, 2009 - 5:50 PMtry clicking the "accept" button
the link is not letting you in because it is a private tribe
after you accept the invitation, you'll be able to view the tribe -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Fri, October 16, 2009 - 6:56 PMClick "view invitation" and then you should see the "accept" link. If the sender has unsubscribed, there will not be an "accept" option any longer. -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 7:53 AMWhere is the option to view the invitation. What can I ask the sender to do to fix this on her end? Thanks. jms -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 8:11 AMI don't see that on my home page, so I assume something happened on the sender's end that will not allow me to accept. What I get is this:
+++++++++++
Join Carolena on tribe.net today!
Carolena has invited you to join the ATSGSTT on tribe.net.
+++++++++++
and then a join now button that takes me to join tribe.net. What can I ask the sender to do on her end to fix this? There is another person that was invited to join this private tribe having the same issue.
Thanks. Joan

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 8:52 AMHi Joan, I think she thought you weren't on Tribe yet. Inviting someone to a private tribe isn't the same as inviting someone to Tribe in general. Maybe if you messaged her from Tribe, she'll have your profile to invite?
Although, I think she's been sending invites from the tribe to email addresses. Check to see if the email she sent the invite to is the same address as the one you use for Tribe.
Am I right, people of tribe.net bug reports? What is the one easiest way to invite people (both Tribe members and non) to a private tribe? This isn't the first time this has happened. -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 9:11 AMthe easiest way is for the mod or members to invite from within the tribe itself
clicking the "ask a friend to join" module
or
you can click on an individual profile
look under the icon photo on the profile page
click on "more options"
then click on "invite to tribe"

Were you sent an invitation, or just a link to the tribe? -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 2:40 AMIf someone sends you an inofficial invite via private mail that he wrote up himself with a pasted link, it is not going to get you into a private tribe. Sounds like this is what happened.
Or it is a tribe where members are not allowed to invite anyone, even, so this way they could not send you a proper invite even if they tried. -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 8:56 AMCarolena is the moderator of that private tribe. She's somehow gotten other people on there in the past, but I know this problem happens from time to time. I think it might be a lack of understanding the different ways of inviting people. In my experience with her, she likes to pick one way and stick with it. -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 9:08 AMOoops! Scratch that. She is not the moderator of that tribe. Different tribe I'm thinking of. Nevermiiiinnd!
Sounds like that is the problem, right there. She can't invite people to that tribe unless she is the moderator. Ya. -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 9:48 AMThanks, Sandi. Should I send her a note or is this something you could talk to her about on our behalf. I know at least two of the girls from GS were able to accept the invite. Let me know what you think is the best way to proceed.
Thanks everyone! jms -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Sat, October 17, 2009 - 2:20 PMI think you should message her about that. Since you know what you're experiencing. Mention too, that someone else is having a problem. She probably just forgot that she couldn't invite people to it and will direct Sharon "Shay" Moore to invite you both. She is the mod for that tribe.
Good luck and congrats on the GS cert! -

Re: Unable to join a tribe
Mon, October 19, 2009 - 4:44 PMI think you all figured this out... if a person is invited to a private tribe via email address, then the recipient will need to create a profile with that same email address to accept the invitation... otherwise, if you already have a profile on tribe but under a different email address, the private tribe will not be visible to you until someone invites your tribe profile instead.
Make sense?
