Turn off the settings to do what, I wonder? I like it when I can see who of my friends is online. Yeah, i also had to sign in the other day which freaked me, because the last times I was asked to do that it always meant, tribe was down and signing in made no difference at all. Many turn the setting off so it never shows them online. This can be done in your profile settings.

I'm not 100% sure how relevent it is to have an online light? I could see it as a useful feature if TribeChat was a workable product and you can then chat with members in real time. Here it's a setup where someone types a 'statement' and others can answer whenever they choose. Although the interaction can be almost immediate, this site is not really designed for chat. The same thing happened to me yesterday. all of a sudden tribes I knew I had joined were saying . that I had not and when I tried to post I was told to sign in.
