For months I've enjoyed signing onto yahoo.tribes (or whatever this whole site is called), built up my home page, blgged on it, added images onto my home page, enjoyed looking for different tribes, reading old posts, current posts of those tribes.
The last 7 days or so (starting around July 14th) it takes 5 or more minutes to do each of these steps.
It takes 5 or more minutes to sign onto the yahoo. tribes site. Once I get on, then if I want to look at my list of tribes to see if there is any new postings, that takes 5 minutes. Then when I want to see what other new posts there are on other of my tribes, it takes 5 minutes.
When I say it takes 5 minutes, it's because the little circle going around on the upper left side of the screen - just above the orange "tribe" sign - keeps circling around and around.
I don't find any difficulty with any of the other sites on my favorites - just this yahoo.tribe site.
Any suggestions?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thu, July 23, 2009 - 3:38 AMtry using www.tribe.net in your browser instead, that might work a little better. Going through yahoo first will definitely take some extra time! -

Re: slow sign in, etc
Fri, July 24, 2009 - 11:12 AMI am really appreciate that there is a tribe to help me with this problem. It may easily be the most patical, down-to-earth useful tribe I've ever joined. However, nothing suggested has helped thus far.
I signed on directly to tribe.net and no improvement
I went to tools, clicked on Delete Browsing histoert... and checked on "delete all.." which inclded temp files, cookies, historyt, orm data and passwords. The computer took a little amount of time showing it was doing this and then stated it had done it.
There is no improvement.
Are there any other suggestions?

Re: slow sign in, etc
Fri, July 24, 2009 - 11:35 PMHi Carolyn and all, bear with me. I'll try to give you the information you are asking. If I understand your question correctly, I use AT&T yahoo! and my computer uses Windows Vista. Is this the information that you're asking for?

Re: slow sign in, etc
Fri, July 24, 2009 - 11:51 PMHi Rennek.
Vista is your operating system, and AT&T would be your service provider. (I've been wondering what type of connection you have. Is it DSL, high speed, dial up? This can make a huge difference in the time it takes for a page to load.)
What browser are you using? Firefox, IE, Flock...my guess is IE (Internet Explorer) -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: slow sign in, etc
Sat, July 25, 2009 - 12:30 AMI have DSL and I think you're right about the internet explorer.
There's two things that have me baffled.
1. I've been visiting tribe.net for about 2 months. It has always worked very fast. It just recently slowed down, really slow - as described in my introduction of the problem.
2. Nothing else I do on the computer has slowed down like this. I go to ther sites, like my bank, credit card, utilities, other web sites and nothing else is slow. It's only the tribe.net site.

Re: slow sign in, etc
Sat, July 25, 2009 - 12:48 AMWelcome to tribe! It's a wonderful site, but can sometimes be an extreme exercise in patience...
It might be helpful to know which version of IE you're using. It's been a long time since I used IE, so I'm not sure how to help you there, perhaps someone else can field that...
I see from earlier posts that you've cleared your cookies and nothing changed...
Oh, hey - is your DSL wireless? -

Re: slow sign in, etc
Sat, July 25, 2009 - 2:35 AMDoes it still seem slow today? Very early friday morning the database locked up for a bit on a long query, and this seems to happen after a while goes by without having done any maintenance restarts.
You could also try another browser, like firefox and see if the performance is different. -

Re: slow sign in, etc
Mon, July 27, 2009 - 10:10 PMHi Carolyn,
I tried the other browser Firefox. I can now move around tribe.net like I used to. Now the thing is learning about Firefox. Will I now need a new email address? I'm going to go back to exploring Firefox. There is no such thing now as going to collect my email from the sbcglobal.net, is there?

Re: slow sign in, etc
Mon, July 27, 2009 - 10:45 PMBrowser type has nothing to do with email access. Simply go to www.yahoo.com and you should be able to login and see your email!
