When I switch to Tribe from an already open Explorer window, I'm taken to a sign in page (not used to seeing this) and when I do sign in, I receive a "horrible exception error".

Of course, I just tried to replecate the bug and it didn't happen - if I get to that error again, I'll be sure to copy the complete message

I suspect the same two servers having trouble with postings and friends' posting modules might be having this problem as well. Interestingly, our staging server was having the same problem as well and restarting it seemed to fix it. Will restart the other two and things should improve all around!

A page came up saying that the server could not be found for the log in page.
I googled Tribe, clicked on the BM link & signed in from there.

Yeah, the google thing is the back door into tribe. The horrible exception stuff usually comes up when tribe is down. You can try putting your profile URL into your browser (give yourself a name for a tribe handle, numbers don't work!) and when your profile comes up with any weird stuff on it, like your avatar not showing, and your photo album link saying "problem generating area", it means, tribe is down. If you can click from there onto your homepage, you are lucky.

To clarify: the horrible exception happens when one of the nine web servers is down. The site has not been down since our last maintenance period (17 June), and has not crashed completely since we put the new DB server in place on 10 June.

Using Google to get onto the site probably just allows the cookie to be rewritten, and is basically the same thing as restarting your browser.

In these cases, google works faster than restarting the browser which is kind of a hit and miss thing. Anyway, when that happens, as soon as you click onto some other page you may be back on the dysfunctional server.

I think our friend Mojito still has his moments, but it has been great not having any total crashes (knock on wood) since the new server was installed.
