Yep. I've found that the only way I can log in is to pretend I've forgotten my password and have tribe generate one for me, then I must also click remember me to stay logged in. Even if I change passwords and use the new password, it won't work and I must play the same game again to get on. Even if I don't change the password, sometimes I must still generate a new password to log on. And yes, a new tribe generated password has worked each time, the first time.
Tell me this isn't odd.

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 12:19 AMDo you click Remember Me when logging in with the new one? That should get you the prompt to change it and then keep you logged in. -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 12:43 AMyes it prompts me, but i find that if i change it to one of my own passwords, that it won't work anyway.
looks like they did whatever maintenance in record time. that's nice. -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 12:57 AMWell, i made the change but it didn't fix the problem :(
I was noticing in testing though that if I didn't check remember me to login from the Join or Login page, then it didn't accept it at all.
We're still checking a few things out now though, it's become quite the mystery! -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 1:04 AMwell it's back to logging me out repeatedly. this is it's newest message: For security reasons, Tribe.net ends your session after 60 minutes of inactivity. Please sign in to pick up where you left off.
which of course is bullshit. i haven't been inactive at all. -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 1:19 AMYep, the problem is not fixed. Using remember me is the only workaround we have for now. -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 1:36 AMHey Carolyn - thanks again for all your work on this puzzle!
I recall having banner announcements on our homepages in the past. How difficult would it be to tack an announcement onto the main log in page, letting people know they need to check the 'remember me' box to stay logged in? -

Re: Only a tribe generated password works...
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 11:53 AMThat would be a great idea, but unfortunately that functionality broke at some point before we started here. When I looked into it, I found one of the database tables it needs is completely missing, so possibly at some point when the database was restored from backup that table got missed.
At this point I think I will just hard code a message into the page. -
