Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 4:47 PMAh, for the want of good communication. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 4:52 PMWith any luck the maintenance scheduled for early in the morning will solve these issues without creating new ones. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 4:54 PMWill the scheduled maintenance also fix the shoddy communications? -
-
Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:01 PMIt is possible there were efforts to try to figure out the source of the glitches occurring over the last week that were consuming time that communication requires. It is also possible that there was some hesitation about saying anything when the question was still open, as it may well still be. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:11 PMwhen did you realize that by checking the: remember me box
when logging in helped or eliminated the problem.
in the beginning you could log on but instantly offline if tried to post.
but now appears to be running smoothly... -
-
Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:19 PMThere are also fewer people on now.
The remember me box was discussed in threads prior to this one, and you might not have been able to log on to read those when they were being posted.

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:18 PMI don't buy it. Communications plans are a necessary part to any business endeavor and they don't need to be complex. For instance:
It doesn't take much time to
1) Acknowledge a problem, even if you don't know specifically what causes it.
2) Get a message, even if it's a 30-second phone call, to a designated person who can post the news in a prescribed way for folks to view.
3) If the problem and solution get identified, with or without an estimated time of repair, repeat step #2.
4) If the estimated time of repair needs updating, repeat step #2.
5) If the problem is resolved, repeat step #2.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
That "designated person" in step #2 doesn't need to be a part of the powers-that-be at tribe. It can be a non-technical volunteer. But that person should get AT LEAST a phone call so they can put the word up for everyone else while the technical team is fixing things. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:29 PMThat sounds sensible. The question would be whether the administration is that organized or not, which would suggest another issue as well as the technical one. Ordinarily, I have found the current programmers and admins to be really responsive, which makes this present situation perplexing. But now there is a notice posted about maintenance downtime, and I did see the tribe message about the remember me box on Twitter as well as current tweets about the downtime. I don't like Twitter, but it is handy for some things. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 5:59 PMHow organized do you have to be to make a phone call? -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 6:11 PMA new season, and a new crowd of befuddled consumers all asking 'why oh why' can't this bird fly?
the experience you are having IS the shampoo, lather, rinse AND repeat.
About 3-7 months of non communication and the staff changes somewhat, a new perky person or two make everyone happy for about 6-9 months, then we repeat. one thing, this admin was not the despot the last one was. The hate mail wears anyone in that position out, and they stop responding. They stopped responding to serious term of use violations, what i the world makes anyone think they are going to respond to most everything else? The star means yer silly. remember the kids in class that thrived off a mere gold star? -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 6:38 PMNot everyone with a star is actually paying, though. I stopped Paypal from sending Tribe any money months ago. The star's still there. So yeah, not very organized. -

Re: what the f is going on?
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 7:02 PMah, yeah, i forgot about that one. i had a friend that had a star for a year with no payments.
course, judging from the excitement mickey displays, i would suspect she is still paying hers. -

and this is so frustrating, I don't want to wait till May 2010 for this place to run smoothly
and 750 logged in is pretty unacceptable for over capacity -
