I'm the moderator of a zombie tribe. No one's posted on it for over a year. I'm in the midst of a cleaning campaign to reflect my current interests. How can I shed this albatross?

    wildapache nailed it.
Get a new mod, and then invite everyone there
    to your new tribe.
Give them an incentive to go..
free cookys, a stay at a nice (roach) motel,...
    alcohol to losen the lips...
    ;)

I had just been meaning to propose a thread where we all list all the tribes we are on that have not had any postings for one or two years.
My personal gold medal goes to "The joy of mindless nobodies" which has not had one single posting ever since I joined it, two or three years ago. Silver is for "Metaphysical druids" which just had the first 3 postings or so, after a 2 year silence. And these were about a bbq party or something, attended by druids. Not what I expected to see there. ; )

Yeah, I have been advocating some housekeeping for a while, but most people seem to think it is a stupid idea.

It is not a stupid idea, Amiable, it is ILLEGAL, they say. they would be commiting a crime if they deleted the mindless nobodies tribe, you see? We have to accept that, that would definitely be a dangerous thing to do and we don't want our tribe help staff get arrested, do we?

You could legally disband the tribe. Kick everyone out and delete it.

Who, me? I am not the moderator. But it sounds good to me...

Well if it's such a dead tribe, start a vote in there, vote for yourself, and you just may be the one voter who elects yourself mod. Then delete it.

If you don't want to moderate a tribe and no one else there is interested, feel free to simply leave the tribe.

Yeah, I have seen number of dormant tribes that have no moderator at all. But wouldn't it ease the load on the servers if these were deleted. I know, we have been through this one before, but I am giving it another try. You know that we are all suffering from these "the server is over capacity right now" messages. Slimming down would make for less crashes, wouldn't it?

Well, I don't get that because a mod of a private tribe can delete all the posts and delete all the members, thereby leaving it totally empty except for the mod. I "recycle" one of my tribes that way.
